Institute of Water Resources, China Academy of Water Resources and Hydropower Research
The Water Resources Research Institute is a public welfare research institution under the China Academy of Water Resources and Hydroelectric Sciences, mainly engaged in theoretical, applied, and applied research in the field of hydrology and water resources, including basic water cycle theory, simulation technology and water resource evaluation, planning, configuration, conservation, scheduling, management, protection, and macro strategic research, as well as major water conservancy engineering consulting and international water affairs cooperation. The Water Resources Research Institute was established in 1956, formerly known as the Hydrological Research Institute; After nearly 60 years of development, our institute has developed into a nationally renowned water resources research base with a complete range of disciplines and specialties, both domestically and internationally.
The Water Resources Institute has successively presided over and completed 35 scientific and technological research/support projects from the "6th Five Year Plan" to the "12th Five Year Plan"; 2 national 973 projects and over 10 research topics; Hosted one major national science and technology special project and four research topics; 1 innovation group fund project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 8 key projects, 13 general projects, and 22 youth fund projects; Participated in the completion of the first and second national water resources assessment, national water resources comprehensive planning, South–North Water Transfer Project planning and other major national strategies and plans; Led and completed 90 major scientific research and consulting projects at the river basin, provincial and ministerial levels, and other levels; Compile and complete the first national pilot plan for the construction of a water-saving society, the first pilot plan for the construction of water ecological civilization, and the first pilot plan for comprehensive water resource management; I have successively led and completed the water resource demonstration work for 135 planning and construction projects. With the support of the above projects, a modern hydrological and water resources theory and technical method system with significant innovative characteristics has been formed, leading and driving the development of the water resources discipline; The above theories and methods have been widely applied at home and abroad, which strongly supports the planning, design and operation of Megaproject such as the South to North Water Transfer Project and the Three Gorges Project. At present, all employees in the institute are collaborating on innovative research and development, planning demonstration, and scientific and technological consultation in the field of hydrology and water resources, focusing on the new central water control strategy in the new era.
